This article provides practical guidance on translating global development thinking into effective community-level practice. Drawing from our experience implementing programs across Uganda and East Africa, we explore how to bridge the gap between international frameworks and local realities.The article examines key principles for contextualizing global evidence, engaging community stakeholders, and ensuring that interventions are culturally appropriate and sustainable. It offers practical tools and approaches for development practitioners working to implement evidence-based programs at the community level.

This peer-reviewed article presents findings from a research study examining social norms and their influence on type 2 diabetes prevention and management behaviors in Uganda. The study uses a social norms framework to understand how community attitudes and practices shape individual health decisions.Our research reveals significant insights into the social and cultural factors that enable or constrain healthy behaviors. The findings have important implications for designing more effective diabetes prevention and management programs that address underlying social norms rather than focusing solely on individual behavior change.

This report presents a comprehensive process evaluation of a quality improvement learning site model implemented in Ugandan health facilities. The evaluation examines how the learning site approach was implemented, what worked well, what challenges emerged, and how the model was adapted to the local context.The learning site model aims to build sustainable quality improvement capacity by creating demonstration sites where health workers can learn and practice QI methodologies. This evaluation provides valuable insights for organizations implementing similar capacity-building approaches and documents important lessons for scaling quality improvement initiatives.
